Clinical
Integration for a 300-physician IPA
Educated IPA Board and member physicians on antitrust and requirements for
clinical integration. Assisted with clinical integration program development and
selection of data management vendor. Created
linkage to local hospital, integrating IPA’s
quality initiatives with hospital’s patient safety and performance improvement
program. Successfully negotiated payer contracts including incentive payments
and pay-for-performance provisions.
Clinically
Integrated IPA and Hospital with enterprise wide EMR
Helped to create a clinically integrated IPA closely aligned with a Regional Medical Center. Developed clinical integration program featuring
an enterprise-wide EMR. Linked physician
office-based quality improvement initiatives with inpatient programs to improve
care delivery across the continuum. Negotiated
payer contracts including P4P provisions and direct infrastructure payments
to help support IT costs.
Hospital/physician
alignment strategy
Evaluated physician strategy opportunities for a hospital, PHO, employed
physician entity, and a community based IPA. Assessed physician market trends and competitor
expansion plans. Projected impact on hospital admissions and reimbursement
under various scenarios. Recommended key steps to protect independent
physicians from pressures to affiliate with other systems and to improve
physician relations between PHO and employed practices.
Employer
strategy and market research for an academic medical center PHO
Research and strategy development project to identify opportunity for
partnership between provider and employers on care management and wellness
initiatives. External assessment included blinded interviews of employers and
business coalition leaders to assess receptivity, as well as research and
evaluation of successful models from other markets.
Strategic
planning retreat for Board of Directors of a physician IPA
Led strategy development
project with management and planning committee; facilitated retreat for Board
of Directors. Validated organizational vision, established strategic
direction for 1 and 3 year time frames, and drafted annual workplan and metrics.
